You have to see In My Life. As in.

September 18, 2009

I went to see this movie thinking that it would be a great one. Well, guess what. I got what i expected and so much more. The story is just superb. And so is the acting.

This is not a typical gay movie where the sex is really the focal point. This is more of a mother’s day movie or something that’s worth watching during Christmas or family events.

You’ll love the story and the characters. You’ll see Pamela. You’ll see New York. And you’ll see yourself crying.

I watched this movie together with my classmates and I’m planning towatch it again soon.

I think that this movie really made its point.

Life is how we see it and what we make out of it.

Agree?

Something to think about.

August 22, 2009

If someone is behaving badly,

just be patient and keep cool.

He might just be going through a bad day,

a bad week,

a bad month,

a bad year,

or a bad life.

you’re still better of than him. :D

Nothing Beats High School

July 25, 2009

Everybody loves high school. And whether we agree or not, our teachers played a great part in our high school days. Their absence could send us into a euphoric mode in a split second. And their glares can destroy even the most perfect day. Here are some memorable qoutes from my high school teachers courtesy of other alumni of RSHS.

Again, these are not fabricated. These are from real students who graduated from my  “center of excellence, globally competitive” alma mater. Enjoy.

Sorry. Been Sick.

It’s been days since I made my last post. And I deeply regret it.  I have been a victim of flu.

It was so sad. Cough, runny nose, weakness. I could take all these. But fever? Hardly. While I was having my duty in the ICU last Tuesday, I had to hide in the dressing room just so I would stop shivering (the ICU is really cold).

It’s when I realized it’s hard to do anything when you’re sick. This is examination week and I cannot even read my books because I was really preoccupied with things. Plus the flu has made me much lazier than normal. All I wanted to do was lie down or watch TV. I was unproductive for an entire week.

In the ICU, I washed my hands 32 times.

July 20, 2009

I just came from my eight-hour duty in the ICU (intensive care unit, Manny). It was my first time to be exposed to a high-risk area (as in high risk of patients having arrest and dying) and I admit, I was really anxious. I have never experienced having a patient die within my care (clap, clap). But then that may be because I was most often deployed to regular areas such as ward. I only had duty at the ER twice and once in the OR.

Are you Black, Muslim, and from far far away? You should be dead. Not!

July 15, 2009

Just a while ago, I was a able to catch one episode of the Tyra Banks show featuring past episodes about RACISM. Now, this is a topic that really interests me. I mean, how could people judge and respond to others based only on skin color and race? That’s bloody stupid (forgive the trying-hard British tone).

Wanna know your IQ? Watch TV.

July 14, 2009

This is not official or scientifically proven. But it makes sense.

You can learn a lot about a person’s intelligence and personality based on the TV shows he/she likes.

And more often than not, you can classify yourself, or your friends in the following categories.

1.  The Brainiacs. These are the people who know Anderson Cooper. They can stay in front of the TV for hours watching international news and still feel like having fun. They may also be seen watching National Goegraphic or Discovery Channel at times. Or may even be caught watching the Franklin Drilon Debates on ANC. But never will you see them watching TV5 or JackTV. They know what’s happening in Ghana as well as the current issues in US Senate. Exciting! Duh.

When the Dentist Strikes

July 13, 2009

Honestly, I’m one of the many people who think the word ‘dentist’ is synonymous to pain. I don’t have perfect teeth. I know I have to have braces, extractions, and many other dental services but no, I don’t want to. I’d rather have ugly teeth than to go to a dental clinic. Pathetic me.

Transformers 2: A for Effects

July 10, 2009

Finally, I have watched the much talked about and overrated sequel of the much talked about and overrated Transformers the movie.

Hmm. Honestly, I was impressed by the special effects. It’s so fun to watch and so realistic. It’s like watching a work of art. Kudos to the artists behind the movie.

Storywise, it’s not very far from the usual plots in sci-fi books and movies (obviously, since it’s an adaptation.)

Anyway, another thing that struck me about the film, except from the fact that some scenes were shot in Harvard (which is like the academic dreamland of most people), was the sexiness of Megan Fox.

>I heard a rumor about her being a transsexual. hmm.

Okay, there really nice stuff in the movie aside from the effects, Harvard and the sexiness of Megan Fox.

Got Pets? Read This one.

July 8, 2009

I’m not exactly a fan of pets but I’m not a hater either. But speaking of them, I have learned in my many experiences with household pets about the fact that like humans, our pets deserve also the best. I have just recently learned about a website offering various products for pets: Rood and Riddle Veterinary Pharmacy.

The veterinary supplies RRVP offers are top of the line and have been proven effective by consumers from all around the world. It’s a really good deal.

What’s good about this site is that they offer a comprehensive and scientifically based range of products for our pets. My dogs are just excited. One more thing I’ve learned is that some veterinary supplies even come with prescriptions! How cool is that.

During these times of many frauds and other potentially dangerous offers everywhere in the web, it’s a must to ensure that the products you will be using on your pets are from a trusted and reliable company.

Visit www.rrvp.com for more details. :D

You can Get Better Grades! Here’s how:

Although my grades are quite satisfactory, I am one of the many students who are still struggling to do well in school. And everyday, I meet fellow students who ask me some tips on how to get better grades. Here are some that I’ve learned from the internet, from my friends and from my own experiences in my 13 years of education.

1. Don’t just aim to pass. Aiming to pass is like just trying to keep afloat in a swimming race. It’s pointless and lame. Pointless because there are hundreds and even thousands of people who will graduate by the same time you do and you will be competing for the same jobs. Who do you think will the employers hire the passer or the topnotcher? And remember: “If you reach for the roof and fall, you land on the ground. But if you reach for the sky and fall, you land on the roof.”

2. Challenge yourself. Just like what Julie (one of my classmates) said, compete with yourself. Be more intelligent today than you were yesterday. Push yourself to the limit. You never really know just how far or how high you can go unless you try.

Geniuses and Posers

July 6, 2009

I may not be your kind..
my brain may not be able to process the things yours can..

But reading Pierre Bordeau,
or filling your ears with the music of some foreign band..
doesn’t prove that you’re a genius.

And digging Harry Potter books.
or listening to unpopular local artists
doesn’t mean I’m stupid.

It only means we’re different.
And God, am I thankful.

Single is HOT!

Seeing sweet couples in the corridors, library, quadrangle, gym, and canteens in the campus may make people feel like everybody is involved in a romantic relationship. But the fact is, many of us are not. And some of us are even planning to be “single for life”.

For people with girlfriends or boyfriends, it seems necessary to also find a partner for their single friends. They believe that a being in a relationship is a blessing and their friend should also be able to experience it. This may be a sign of thoughtfulness and concern but actually, it may do more harm than good.

Being single in a world where people expect you to be attached is already
bad enough, you don’t have to go on pestering your friends.

In the Philippine college scenario, being single is not at all that ‘cool’, neither is it something to be proud of. Many single students are ridiculed. People may even call them gay or lesbian.

Villa Estrella

July 3, 2009

All right. I’ll try to be as objective as possible.

Villa Estrella was another great movie by Filipino standards and maybe good enough for Hollywood.

The special effects were satisfactory except that the “monster” was a bit ugly and unnecessary. I was actually disappointed by it.

But I think the story was good enough, not exactly new but interesting enough.

What made the movie great was the impeccable acting of the stars in the movie. Shaina was really beautiful here and Jake Cuenca was good enough.

LOST!

July 2, 2009

Okay, this is not about the TV series. :D

I lost my wallet today. Err, a coin purse that served as my wallet to be clear. With it I lost my nameplate, my badge (these two are important parts of our duty uniform – yes, I’m so dead), the key to my room, my flash drive (bye dear documents!), and some 200 pesos (ouch).

I’m not where I lost it but I think it fell from my bag when I rode a jeep to go to a government office to get my birth certificate.

Add to that the fact that the building smelled of old urine, and the air was so hot. It felt like hell.

I had to borrow money from my classmate to pay for the certificate (a costly price of 14o pesos for a piece of paper) and had to ask some money from another classmate to get some lunch while waiting for the certificate (we waited an hour and a half- for a piece of paper).

It was so sad.

And now I’m having a hard time moving on. Where art thou my dear coin purse?

Sigh. S*** happens. And I must move on.

As my favorite qoute form the Harry Potter book series goes:

“Things we lose always find a way of coming back to us in the end.”

I hope so. I hope soon.
