Wanna know your IQ? Watch TV.

July 14, 2009

This is not official or scientifically proven. But it makes sense.

You can learn a lot about a person’s intelligence and personality based on the TV shows he/she likes.

And more often than not, you can classify yourself, or your friends in the following categories.

1.  The Brainiacs. These are the people who know Anderson Cooper. They can stay in front of the TV for hours watching international news and still feel like having fun. They may also be seen watching National Goegraphic or Discovery Channel at times. Or may even be caught watching the Franklin Drilon Debates on ANC. But never will you see them watching TV5 or JackTV. They know what’s happening in Ghana as well as the current issues in US Senate. Exciting! Duh.

2. The Brainiacs Plus. These are the people who know Anderson Cooper and Jimmy Kimmel and Howie Mandel. They’re smart but know how to have fun. They get a good dose of international current events but still take time to watch hilarious talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live. These people may have good mixture of fun and seriousness but they are too Americanized. Translation: They don’t like watching Pinoy Channels. They know exactly how Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah’s sofa.

3. The Movie Junkie. Obviously, these people are glued to HBO, Star Movies, Cinema One, and other  movie channels. They know almost all movies ever made and will amaze you because they can recite  quotations from that obscure movie you’re watching.

4. The Music Addict. These people only know three channels: MTV, V, and Myx. They know the latest music videos and the chart toppers. They’ve memorized those Korean songs before you even hear about them.

5. Tatak Pinoy. These people are not linguistically challenged or anything. They just LOVE PInoy shows. Whether it’s a soap opera, a comedy show, or any random Tagalog show, these people will be entertained. These are those who don’t even know what BBC or Fox News are. But they do know how much Aling Dionesia’s gowns are.

6. Anime Fans. They’re not Japanese or Korean but they’re addicted to cartoons. I call them ‘kids’ because for me, cartoons are only for young people, which is of course a mere opinion.

7. The Bottom of the TV food chain. These are the people who watch random, unpopular shows like wrestling, golf, foreign channels (even Indian for Pete’s sake), TMZ and others. Variety is their mantra.

As for me, I’m a mixture of all. I like watching news, music videos, movies, reality shows, talk shows and even soap operas. Come on. Everybody likes soap operas. Admit it. :D

P.S.
not everyone likes soap operas…i used to, but now i can’t understand why i got glued with teleseryes and koreanovelas such as marimar, encantadia (tama ba spelling?!), all about eve, meteor garden etc… I liked them but now finally i got over them…. :)
